Saturday 40 km (Red) Route 06:50 hrs to 07:30 hrs

Sunday 40 km (Red) Route 06:20 hrs to 07:00 hrs

Saturday/Sunday 20 km (Blue) Route 07:30 hrs to 08:15 hrs

Saturday/Sunday 10km (Yellow) Route 08:15 hrs to 09:00 hrs

  1. ORGANISERS. The Walk is organised by the RAF Walking & Road Marching Association.

  2. START AND FINISH. The walk starts & finishes at RAF Cosford, Nr Wolverhampton. WV7 3EX.  DCAE Cosford is located on the A41 just south of Junction 3 of the M54, follow signs for RAF Museum from the M54 motorway. All walkers must return off the routes by 1700 on Saturday and 1600 on Sunday. Walkers will be required to bring Photo-ID (Passport or Photo Driving Licence) along with receipt of entry for access to the start at DCAE Cosford.  

  3. CAR PARKING. Car Parking will be available at the start, and will be controlled by RAF WARMA Officials.  Participants are requested to comply with the directions of these officials.

  4.   WALK SERVICES. First Aid cover will be available at the Start/Finish & on the route.  Refreshments will be available for purchase at the start/finish and control points, with free squash at the control points.

  5. TERRAIN. The routes are predominantly on public roads.  Routes will be marked and maps will be provided.  The 40km route includes a section of approx 7km along a canal bank on Saturdays route. These events are exempt from the Adventure Activities Licensing Regulations.

  6. RULES.

    a. The walk is open to any individual or team on submission of the requested information and appropriate entry fee(s).

    b. Walkers under 13 years of age MUST have parental consent to enter, and be accompanied by a responsible person.

    c. Obey the country and highway codes. 

    d. Anyone spreading litter, causing any form of damage or defacing the route will be disqualified and may face prosecution.

    e. The organisers are not liable for accidents, theft and/or damage to property. Every effort will be made by the organisers to make this a safe, enjoyable and memorable event.

    f.     The walk will take place, whatever the weather.

    g. Entry fees are not normally refundable under any circumstances.

  7. ACCOMMODATION   The organisers regret that accommodation actually on DCAE Cosford is not available. A list of local B&B and commercial Camp Site details is available by clicking here.

  8.  PUBLIC TRANSPORT.  The nearest Railway station is at Cosford and is adjacent to the start.

  9. WEARING OF MILITARY UNIFORM

  10. ENTRY PROCEDURE - Entry is NOT available at the event.  You MUST pre-register for this event and send the requested information for each walker by post or email to arrive no later than Saturday 2 April 2011.   You do not need to send your payment if you are unsure if you will attend – you can pay on arrival.  Please complete the details on the entry form and send with the appropriate fees (unless you wish to pay on arrival) to the address given.   All entrants will be required to have a receipt of entry along with their Photo-ID when arriving at the event, so please provide an email address or enclose a small, stamped self-addressed envelope.
